Sunday Mornings
1 Peter 4:7-11 - Last Day Living
In these last days we are called to live holy lives in hope and expectation of the end of all things. Peter exhorts the Elect Exiles to put on Christ-like qualities since the Kingdom is at hand.
1 Peter 4:1-6 - Heaven’s Mindset
Peter reminds us about how Jesus suffered, and he calls us to have the same mindset as Jesus. A Christ like mindset will be done with sin and will long for heaven.
1 Peter 3:18-22 - Saved Through Suffering
Peter reminds those who suffer that Jesus also suffered. It was the suffering of Jesus that accomplished our salvation. He died once for sin and he rose again and is now reigning from heaven.
1 Peter 3:13-17 - Honoring Christ the Lord as Holy
The life of God is found in keeping our eyes squarely focused on Christ and seeing Him as He is (holy, holy, holy).
1 Peter 3:8-12 - The Fruit of a Submitted Life
These verses tell us that what should come out of all of us as submissive people are unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, tender-heartedness, humility of mind, and blessings on others, even when they persecute us.
1 Peter 3:1-7 - Marriage Relationships
Peter continues a section about how to live as elect exiles in our relationships. In this part we learn about honor and submission in our marriage relationships.
1 Peter 2:21-25 - The Example of Jesus
In our study on the various relationships of submission, we consider Jesus as our example. Jesus is the greatest example of submission, but he is more than an example, he is a Savior.
1 Peter 2:18-21 - Working Relationships
Peter continues a section about how to live as elect exiles in our relationships. In this part we learn about honor and submission in our working relationships.
1 Peter 2:13-17 - Government Relationships
Peter begins a section about how to live as elect exiles in our relationships. As followers of Jesus we are to be subject for the Lord's sake to every human institution.
1 Peter 2:9-12 - Elect Exile Identity
Peter reminds us as elect exiles that we have an identity in Christ. We are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, and this will change how we live in the world.
1 Peter 2:4-8 - The Cornerstone
A cornerstone was that part of an ancient building that both bore the weight and set the direction of the entire structure. In like manner, Jesus, our cornerstone, bore the weight of our sin as well as sets the direction of our life.
1 Peter 2:1-3 - Growing in Relationship
We are to love sincerely, earnestly, and from a pure heart. Peter lists several relational sins that will threaten that love. We are to put away sin and crave the Word of God if we want to grow in relationship with God and with others.
1 Peter 1:22-25 - Born Again Love
In light of our salvation in Jesus Christ we are able to love one another in a sincere, earnest, and pure hearted way because we have been born again.
1 Peter 1:13-21 - Grace for Holiness
God gives grace for the past, present, and future. In grace God called us, and we are to live holy lives, because God is holy.
1 Peter 1:10-13 - Concerning Salvation
As Christians we are to set our minds on things concerning salvation. The prophets, the apostles, and the angels long to look into the salvation given to us in Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 1:4-9 - Tested Faith
Elect exiles can rejoice in trials because we know that our faith is being tested. God will see the genuineness of our faith as we hope in the one we cannot see, but love.
1 Peter 1:1-5 - Elect Exiles
The Apostle Peter writes to the Elect Exiles - God's chosen people who live in the tension of being citizens of both heaven and earth.
