Philippians 2:12-30 - Obedient Faith
As beloved children of God, we are called to obey God. Obeying God does not save us, but once we are saved we will obey God. God sovereignly works his salvation into us, and then we have a responsibility to work out our own salvation. Paul holds up Timothy and Epaphroditus as examples of people of obedient faith.

Philippians 2:1-11 - Unity of the Spirit
Philippians 2 will encourage us to be unified as a body, by walking in humility, to the glory of the Father.

Philippians 1:18-30 - Life and Death
While Paul was in prison he wanted to glorify Jesus. He was torn between whether living or dying would be better. Paul knew that to die and be with Jesus was better, because when a Christian dies we go to be at home with Jesus in heaven. Regardless, Paul would live each day for Jesus and so should we.

Philippians 1:1-18 - A Joyful Start
Paul was filled with joy as he remembered the start of the church in Philippi. He was also thankful for his relationship with the saints and he always prayed for them. As our church begins Home Groups, this is a joyful start of many new relationships in the church.

James 5:7-12 - Be Patient
Brothers and sisters, be patient until the coming of the Lord. Jesus is coming again! That reality brings hope and purification to the family of God.

James 4:11-5:6 - God is God and You Are Not
With more humbling truth James asks us to come and reason with him. God is God and we are not. When we judge others, plan our futures apart from God, and trust in our own riches, are we not acting like we are God? What is your life? James says man's life is like a mist. Let God be the judge, seek God's will, and trust in God alone.

James 4:1-10 - Grace for Humbled Sinners
There is a war of sinful desire within every person, and the world, the flesh, and the devil are always at odds with the child of God. But God gives more grace. Sinners who humble themselves will receive God's grace.

James 3:13-18 - Who Has Wisdom?
Everyone wants to say that they have wisdom. Yet, those who have true wisdom will be able to prove it by their good conduct. James shows what false wisdom looks like and what true wisdom looks like. True wisdom looks like Jesus.

James 3:1-12 - Taming the Tongue
The tongue is a small part of our bodies, but if it is not controlled, it can bring ruin. James admonishes believers to tame the tongue.

James 2:14-26 - Faith and Works
James shows us the difference between dead faith and living faith. Dead faith is faith without works. Living faith is faith with works. Good works cannot save anyone, but good works are what demonstrate that Jesus has in fact saved you by grace through faith.

James 2:1-13 - Showing Partiality
In a loving but firm way, James tells the church to stop showing partiality. Partiality is a sin, and like all sin, we must repent of it. Instead of showing partiality we should treat others the way we want to be treated.

James 1:19-27 - Moving From Belief to Behavior
This section of James talks about anger as well as the importance of being a doer of God's word, not just a hearer only. What we profess to believe should usher out in how we behave.

James 1:9-18 - Temptation: Its Source and Course
In a way that is similar to the Proverbs and the Beatitudes, James warns us about money and temptation. The source of temptation is not found in God, but in us. The course of sin is death, but Jesus gives the crown of life to those who love him and remain steadfast.

James 1:1-8 - Expect Trials and Wisdom
The Book of James starts by telling believers that we can expect to go through trials, but that we can also expect God to give us wisdom when we ask. Wisdom is needed so that we can countn it all joy when we meet various kinds of trials.

Baptism Sunday
Baptism is our outward expression of the inward reality that we have died and are raised with Christ.

2 Thessalonians 3 - The Word and Work
Paul ends his letter by asking the church to pray that the Word of God would spread quickly and be honored by those who receive it. In receiving this letter the church was also warned to keep away from Christians who were able to work, but were unwilling to work. Paul says, if they won't work then they should not eat.
