As the church was growing a complaint arose because the Hellenist widows were being neglected. Problems are inevitable in a growing church, but through wisdom and grace, God can allow good to come from our problems.
Acts 5:27-42 - We Must Speak His Name
The Apostles are brought in to stand before the Sanhedrin council. They boldly preach the gospel, and after being warned about speaking in the name of Jesus they are beaten and released. The Apostles rejoiced that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name of Jesus.
Acts 5:12-26 - A Growing Church
This section of Acts provides some marks of a growing church. Even though fear had come upon the church after Ananias and Sapphira, there was still great power and grace upon the church, and more and more people were being added to the Lord.
Acts 4:32-5:11 - Power, Grace, and Fear
As the church was just beginning, there was great power coming from the apostles, and great grace upon all the believers. But, when Ananias and Saphirra were struck dead for their hypocrisy, great fear came upon the church.
Acts 4:23-31 - Praying Friends
When Peter and John were released by the chief priest and elders they went to their friends and told them all about what had happened. In response the friends prayed to the Lord, and the Holy Spirit filled them again to be bold witnesses for Jesus Christ.
Acts 4:1-22 - Persecuted for Preaching
Peter and John were arrested by the religious authorities for healing a lame man and for preaching about the resurrection of Jesus. They were put on trial and were commanded not to speak in the name of Jesus anymore. Should they listen to God or to man? You judge.

These verses help us understand how to draw off of the tremendous power of the Holy Spirit who indwells us so that we can live a life of greater Christlikeness.

Acts 3:1-10 - Miraculous Healing
Peter and John were going up to the temple to pray when they came across a man who was lame from birth. With boldness of faith, Peter said, "Rise up and walk!" and he lifted the man to his feet. The man was immediately healed, and the news about the miracle spread.

Paul teaches us how the church is a body, with many parts. There is to be unity in the body, as we all work together with the spiritual gifts that we have each received from the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:37-41 - A Gospel Response
When Peter preached on the day of Pentecost, the people were cut to the heart, and they asked Peter what to do. Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Summer in the Spirit - The Gifts - 1 Corinthians 12:1-13
Every believer in Jesus Christ has been given at least one spiritual gift from the Holy Spirit that is meant to be used in the church.
Acts 2:14-36 - Pentecost Preaching
Peter stands up and preaches the first gospel message on the day of Pentecost. The result was 3000 people were added to the church.
